Heaven gained an angel on Tuesday April 7, 2026 when Joan Marie (Kolakoski) DeBarba beloved wife of Albert DeBarba passed peacefully at her home in Wolcott.
Joan was born on April 21, 1940 in Scranton, PA, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Remish) Kolakoski. She graduated from Wilby High School class of ‘58 and was employed at Farrel Foundry in Cheshire. For most of her adult life she loved being a homemaker, vacations to the coast of Maine with Perkins Cove and Nubble Lighthouse as her favorites.
Besides her husband Al of nearly 65 years, Joan leaves her two sons Todd DeBarba and his partner Lisa Leonard, Brett and his wife Rebecca DeBarba, two grandsons Colin and Alex DeBarba, her sister Patricia and her husband Robert Batten, her brother Thomas and his wife Lucille Kolakoski and several nieces and nephews.
Joan’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday April 14 at 11 AM St. Pius Church/ St. Basil Parish 517 Woodtick Rd in Wolcott. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 7 PM at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott.
