WOLCOTT ~ Jeannine (St. Germain) Troland, 81, of Wolcott, formerly of Waterbury passed away on Wednesday, April 27th at Cheshire House. She was the widow of Joseph C. Troland.
Mrs. Troland was born June 18, 1929 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Laurent and Annette (Lafrance) St. Germain. She was a former member of St. Francis Xavier Church, St. Francis Xavier Ladies Guild and the St. Francis Xavier Seniors. She was a member of The Evergreen Club at Waterbury Hospital and the Prospect Seniors. For many years Jeannine was a Girl Scout Troop Leader at the South Congregational Church and a member of the South Waterbury Seniors. After moving to Wolcott, she became a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Church and a member of the Charles Reitdyke Senior Center. In 2001, she received the Volunteer of the Year Award from the CT Association of Health Care Facilities for her volunteerism at area nursing homes. She was an avid scrabble player and loved bingo and video poker. She was a proficient knitter in her earlier years. She was most proud of her family and all their accomplishments.
Mrs. Troland leaves her son, Laurent Troland and his wife Gretchen of Bethlehem, her daughters, Joyce DeBisschop and her husband, John of Naugatuck, Eileen Cleary and her husband, Dennis of Wolcott, and Janet Discepolo and her husband, Anthony of Wolcott, her 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, her brother-in-law, Fred Troland and his wife, Lee, her sister-in-law, Margaret Troland and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cheshire House for the compassion and care that was extended to their mother.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 9 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to St. Maria Goretti Church for a funeral mass at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm.
