Obituary

Jane (Christolini) Maloney,93, wife of John S. Maloney, born and raised in Waterbury, and a Wolcott resident since 1961, passed away on May 31, 2025 at Hartford Hospital after a short illness.

Born in Waterbury on June 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Enrico "Harry" and Orphine (Bredice) Christolini. She was a graduate of Washington Elementary and Crosby High School, class of 1949, and earned her Bachelors Degree from the Teachers College of Connecticut, and, after it became the Central Connecticut State University, her Masters Degree there also. She began her teaching career in Waterbury, and after a few years, left teaching to raise her large family. Eventually, she went back to teaching and retired from the Wolcott School System in 1994. Despite her retirement, she continued as a substitute teacher in Wolcott until 2012. Among her cherished memories, she was named Teacher of the Year for the Wolcott Public Schools in 1993!

A Catholic, devoted to her St. Basil the Great Parish (formerly known as St. Pius X) in Wolcott, she had served as a past Chairperson of the Parish Council, an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for countless years, and a member of the Ladies Guild and Rosary Society. As a result of her many years of stewardship to her Church, she received the Archdiocesan St. Joseph Medal. Her constant prayers for her family kept them strong in faith and action! She was also a proud member of the Farmingbury Women's Club of Wolcott.

While in Waterbury, she spent many years in the Parks Department Recreational Programs and was the Director of Girls' and Women's Activities in Waterbury under Bill Derwin and Bill Tracy for a number of years.

Jane is survived by her husband of 70 years, John Maloney, and her children Kevin Maloney (Leslie) of Westwood, MA; Brian Maloney (Lisa) of Northfield, CT; Mark Maloney of Lancaster, SC; Donna Bowers of Thornton, NH; Paul Maloney (Joanne) of Wolcott, CT; Michael Maloney of Wolcott, CT; Valerie Randazzo (Frank) of Norwalk, CT, Alena Maloney of Butler, NJ; and Lisa Maloney of Providence, RI. She is also survived by her sisters Dolores Sherman and Henrietta Kane of Edgewood, FL, and Orphine Barrett of Waterbury, CT and a brother Harry Christolini (Patricia) of Meriden, CT. She was predeceased by a sister Anne Kirychuk of Bastrop, TX. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
