JAMES WESLEY THOMPSON

Waterbury: James Wesley Thompson, 93, of Farmwood Road, best known as "Papa", fell asleep in death on, Monday, February 2, 2009. He was the widower of Mary Lee (Harrison) Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was born November 12, 1915 in Mineral Springs, N.C., son of the late Coskey J. and Julia (Champion) Thompson. He attended schools in North Carolina and then relocated to Waterbury, where he was a resident for more than 60 years. He was a U.S. Marine veteran having served during the World War II. He retired from Century Brass and owned a cleaning service. He was a dedicated Jehovahs Witness of the East and Waterville Congregation. "Papa" loved talking to others about the bible; he enjoyed deep-sea fishing and was a N. Y. Yankees fan.
He is survived by his four grandchildren, James Alan Thompson and his wife Cyndi of Ohio, Marcus Thompson of Rhode Island, Delia Marshall and her husband Adrian of Georgia and Jon Thompson and his wife Lisa of Waterbury, a daughter in law, Doretha Thompson of Waterbury, six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. In addition to his wife of 65 years, he was pre deceased by his sons James Hubert and Arnold Thompson and his twin sister Julia Robinson.
A Memorial talk will be held Saturday, February 7th at 4:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses, Waterville Congregation, 2670 North Main St., Waterbury. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4pm at the Kingdom Hall. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd, Wolcott is entrusted with the arrangements.
