WOLCOTT ~ James "Jim" Dolan, 81, of Wolcott passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at St. Marys Hospital. He was the husband of Joan (Thompson) Dolan. Jim was born September 7, 1931 in Peekskill, NY, son of the late James and Helen (Bagge) Dolan. He was a graduate of Pace University and received a Bachelors Degree in Marketing. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and attained the rank of First Lieutenant. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He retired from the Pharmaceutical Division of Dow Chemical in 1989 after 30 years of service. Jim was a longtime member and past president of the Wolcott Lions Club and received the prestigious Melvin Jones Award. In 2012, Mayor Dunn appointed Jim to a five member Wolcott Civilian Police Review Board. He was a charter member of the Wolcott Jaycees and Bill & Sams Diner. Jim followed a daily plan of fitness and enjoyed golfing. He was an avid NY Yankees and UCONN Basketball fan. Despite his tough exterior, Jim was a real teddy bear inside, as family and friends can attest to. He was totally devoted to his family and will be missed every day. Besides his wife, Joan of 58 years, he leaves his children, Debra Forbes and her husband, Bill of Bristol, James J. Dolan of Deerfield Beach, FL, Cathy Parizo of Lantana, FL, and Bill Dolan and his wife, Jill of Wolcott, his grandchildren, Jennifer and Jamie Parizo, David and Jeffrey Forbes, Kristin and Lisa Dolan, his great granddaughter, Mya Warren and several cousins. He was predeceased by his grandson, Michael Dolan. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9 am at St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 pm to 7 pm at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wolcott Lions Club, P.O.
