Wolcott- James "Jimmy" Angell, Jr., 37, passed away on July 3, 2016. He was the beloved son of Cheryll (Barbuto) Angell and the late James T. Angell, Sr.
Jimmy was born in Waterbury, CT on February 18, 1979. He was a communicant of St. Pius X Church and served as an altar boy. He attended Wolcott High School, Class of 1997, where he was on the baseball team, played alto-sax in the band, and was also involved in the Jazz band. At 16 years of age, Jimmy became the youngest certified umpire in the state of Connecticut. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University in May of 2001; and his Masters degree in Teaching, specializing in Chemistry from Post University in May of 2012. Jimmy worked as a high school teacher in Naugatuck and Torrington, and more recently was employed by ESPN and Stats Industry. Jimmy was a charismatic, loving man that will be missed dearly.
Including his mother, Cheryll A. Angell, Jimmy is survived by his aunt, Dottie (Barbuto) Morales, and her husband, Luis, from Miami, FL; his uncles, Frank Barbuto, and his wife, Mary Alice, from MA; and Edward J. Nyberg, Jr., and his wife, Elaine, from NH; his special cousin, Jean Marie Flores, and her husband, Jeremy, from Miami, FL; and many extended paternal and maternal aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, James T. Angell, Sr. in 2011.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 8, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
