Obituary

WOLCOTT ~ Isidore "Bizzy" Bisaillon, 101, of Wolcott, formerly of Waterbury, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 at St. Marys Hospital. He was the husband of Rita (Rousseau) Bisaillon. One of 18 children, Bizzy was born February 6, 1912 in St. Christine, P.Q., Canada, son of the late Henri and Laura (Duchesneau) Bisaillon. He moved to Waterbury in 1929 at the age of 17 with his whole family. He worked at the Wallingford Quarry in Wallingford for about three years, "until all the unmarried people were laid off" he said. From 1936 until 1947, he worked for Wilbrod Guertin of the Bell Lunch on South Main St., near the Shrine of St. Anne. In 1947, he bought the Home Restaurant on Bank St. which was destroyed by the Great Flood of 1955 as well as his home on Fenn Place. In 1956, he purchased the 7-11 Restaurant on South Main St. and he became well known for his French-Canadian homemade food. He often served over 300 people a day with his recipes of pork meat pies, baked beans, pea soup, beef stew, boudin, tete de fromage, creton and steak sandwiches. Bizzy did catering for numerous weddings, baptisms, confirmations, anniversaries, retirement parties, and Christmas parties. For many years, he catered for the Installation of Officers at the Franco-American Social Club. In 1969, he bought his fathers farm in Ste. Christine, Canada and since his retirement in 1977, he has spent summers in Canada and the other seasons in Waterbury. He was a long time member of the Shrine of St. Anne Church, the Holy Name Society, and St. Jean de Baptiste Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the oldest member of the Franco-American Social Club. Besides his wife, Rita of 70 years whom he married in 1942, he leaves his children, Raymond and wife, Linda of Waterbury, Richard of Boynton Beach, FL, Laura Chartier and husband, Gerard of Waterbury, Sr. Michele (Irene) , D.H.S. of Hartford, Isidore, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Naugatuck, Claudette DelPrete and husband, Ernest of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel of Waterbury, and Francis of Wolcott, his brother, Adrien of Barton, VT, his sister, Julienne Bisaillon-Ranger of Repentigny, P.Q., Canada, 21 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 15 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8:30 from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to the Shrine of St. Anne for a funeral mass at 10:00 am, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.
