WOLCOTT ~ Mrs. Irene B. (Gamelin) Hebert, 90, passed away on November 28, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Wilfrid Hebert.
Irene was born November 1, 1923 in Montague City, Massachusetts, daughter to the late Alexander and Lydia (St. Amoure) Gamelin. She worked for many years for her father who was a professional photographer and went on to work for Bosworth Studios in Springfield as a photo re-toucher. Irene was a wonderful seamstress and quilter. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and had a passion for music and playing the organ. Her heart was always with her family as she loved spending her time with her children and grandchildren, as well as attending her grandsons baseball games. Irene was also a member at St. Pius X Church in Wolcott.
She will be missed by her children, Gregory Hebert and his wife Ann of Waltham, MA, Paulette Desjardins and her husband Raymond of Wolcott, grandchildren, Shawn and Amy Desjardins, Matthew Hebert, Lisa Capuzziello and her husband Jeffrey, a great grandchild, Dante Capuzziello, a sister in law, Pauline Nowak and a brother in law, Dr. George Hebert. She was predeceased by her siblings, Edmund and Homer Gamelin and Lillian Bruno.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Dr.s and staff in the ICU unit for the care and compassion that was given to Irene and the family during her stay.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:00am directly at St. Pius X Church in Wolcott. Burial will be at a later time in the Agawam Veterans Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
