Obituary

CHESHIRE ~ Gladys Laura (Diamond) Pelletier, 89, widow of George W. Pelletier of Cheshire died peacefully at Abbott Terrace Health Center with her family by her side. Mrs. Pelletier was born on June 14, 1921 in St. Barnabe Nord, Canada. She was the daughter of the late Adonias and Flore (Matteau) Diamond. She became a citizen in 1926. She graduated from St. Annes School and attended Wilby High School in Waterbury. Mrs. Pelletier had been employed by the Waterbury Clock Co., Benrus Watch, Lux Clock, and the Bristol Co. She worked for Luma of New York handling radium project. She also worked at the Eyelet in Wallingford for many years as an inspector, and also part-time employment at Hoyts Cinemas, Blackies Hot Dogs in Cheshire, Dietz Mfg. and Als Restaurant. She loved doing crossword puzzles, watching western movies, bowling, music, and bingo. But her favorite love was having yard sales. She had a very loyal following and enjoyed chatting with everyone who came to browse. Her love of children also brought her much joy. A devoted family wife, besides her late husband, she leaves three children, daughter, Gege Pelletier, and partner, Krista, of Cheshire, son, Ernest Pelletier and wife, Louise of Wallingford; and daughter, Nancy Serruta, and husband, Joseph, of Springfield, PA. She also leaves a loving granddaughter, Lesley Serruta, of King of Prussia, PA. She is also survived by two sisters, Hazel Martin and Alice White, both of FL, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several siblings in the US, along with many relatives in Canada. The Pelletier family would like to personally thank the entire staff on 3 West at Abbott Terrace, along with the recreation department, for their exceptional and compassionate care shown to Gladys, while she was a resident. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 am at the Church of the Epiphany, 1750 Huckins Rd., Cheshire, CT 06410. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects at 9:30 in the church prior to the mass at 10 am. Woodtick Memorial has been entrusted with Gladyss arrangements.
