Mrs. Giuseppa "Josephine" Cyr Waterbury ~ Mrs. Giuseppa Cyr, 84, of Waterbury passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital with her family by her side. She was the wife to Oneal Cyr for sixty five years. Mrs. Cyr was born September 15, 1928 in Providence, RI, daughter to the late Bernado and Vincenza (Bianchi) Grosso. She retired from US Rubber after working many years as an assembler. Josephine was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church of Waterbury. She was an avid pokeno and bingo player at the Abbott Terrace as well as a wii bowler. She looked forward to playing a card game with any one of her family members every evening. Josephine was a true wife and mother and showed her love during holiday gatherings or at her "Lobster Fest" she held every year for twenty two years. The family is grateful for the compassion and care that was given to her during her stay at the Abbott Terrace and Waterbury Hospital and they deeply appreciated Dr. Moore and all the staff that helped during her last days. Besides her wonderful husband, she will be remembered by her loving children, Karen Doran and her husband James of Waterbury, Debbie Grappone and her husband Gary of Waterbury, Maureen Dos Santos and her husband Jose of Waterbury, Dennis and Joyce Cyr of Waterbury, Joseph and Sally Cyr of Naugatuck, Richard and Barbara Cyr of Berlin, Michael and Angela Cyr of Waterbury, a brother, Frank Grosso of Waterbury, sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 26, from 5:00-8:00pm at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am at Blessed Sacrament Church in Waterbury, those that would like to travel in procession, please meet at the funeral home from 9:00 - 10:00am. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in her name to: Vitas Hospice Unit, Waterbury Hospital, 64 Robbins St. Waterbury, CT 06708.
