Watertown- Gertrude (Martinelli) Humiston, 88, of Waterbury, Connecticut, a beautiful spirit passed from this world peacefully in the company of loved ones.
Gertrude is the daughter of the late Domenic and Rosaline (Galicchio) Martinelli. Gertrude was a lifelong resident of Waterbury, graduated from Wilby High School, then worked at Scovills as did many in her family before taking a job with the City of Waterbury from which she retired after many years of service.
Gertrude was devoted to family and friends Sharing her love of flowers gardening and Puzzles. She was a fixture at family events often leading the family in laughter and dance. Gertrude will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Gertrude leaves behind her son Richard Humiston Jr., and his wife Sara, of MA; her daughter, Rosalie Gosselin and her husband Ronald, of Waterbury; her sisters, Filomena (Phyllis) Martinelli, of Southbury; Carmella (Molly) McCusker and her husband Frank, of Waterbury; and Elizabeth (Betty) Sullivan, of Richmond, CA ; sister-in-law, Anne Martinelli in law of Watertown; her brothers William (Bill) Martinelli, and Vincent (Vinny) Martinelli and his wife Maureen, all of Wollcott; her granddaughter Heather Millette and her husband Jeffrey; her grandsons Ronald Gosselin jr, and Richard T. Humiston; her great-grandson, Marshall Millette; her great-granddaughters, Sierra, Emilee Rose, Rileigh Gosselin, and Bryanna Humiston.
She is predeceased by her granddaughter Alexandra Humiston; her brothers, Francis (Frank), Nicholas, Charles, Vincent Martinelli and sisters, Mary Ostroski, Angela Martinelli, Dorothy Houle, Margaret Martinelli and Susan Kepauitis.
Arrangements: A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 28 at 11 am. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Calling hours will start at 9 a.m. and conclude with a service at 11 a.m. Burial will be held privately. The family would also like to extend an invitation to San Marino's, 111-23 Thomaston Avenue, Waterbury, directly after the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Gertrude's name to The Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital, www.stJude.org.
