SOMERVILLE, MA ~ Germain "Jerry" Deshaies, 99, of Somerville, MA, formerly of Waterbury passed away on Tuesday, January 01, 2013 at the Little Sisters of the Poors nursing home surrounded by his family. He was the widower of Rose (Chartier) Deshaies.
Jerry was born August 20, 1913 in St. Marie de Blandford, P.Q., Canada, son of the late Wilfrid and Marie Laure (Desrocher) Deshaies. He was a US Army veteran, having served during WWII. Jerry was a longtime parishioner of the Shrine of St. Anne and the Holy Name Society. After 23 years of service, he retired from Scovill Mfg. Co. in 1975.
He leaves his sons, Rev. Robert Deshaies and his wife Deborah and their children Kristin, Chantal and Brandon of Plantation, FL; Roger Deshaies and his wife Rosemary and their children Denise, Marc and Juliette of Williston, VT; Fr. Richard Deshaies, S.J. of Cambridge, MA; and Dr. Raymond Deshaies and his wife Dr. Linda Silveira and their children Ethan and Sonia of Pasadena, CA. He also leaves 2 great grandchildren, Allison and Samantha Deshaies, and many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his family of 12 children.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7th at 9:00 AM from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott for a 10:00 AM funeral Mass at the Shrine of St. Anne. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, January 6th from 4:00-7:00 PM.
