CHESHIRE Mr. George W. Moreland Sr., 80, passed away on Thursday morning, June 22, 2023, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of Anna (Ruocco) Moreland George was born in New Haven on July 22, 1941, son of the late Clarence and Lilian (Moulter) Moreland. He served honorably in the United States Air Force. For 26 years he worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield in North Haven as their warehouse manager. He was a member of the American Legion Post 76 in North Haven and the Knights of Columbus, Santa Fe Council 2978, in Cheshire. In addition to his wife he leaves his two sons, George W. Moreland, Jr. and his wife Janice of Wolcott, and Pasquale C. Moreland and his wife DeAnna of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Charles, Alonzo and Donna. The family would like to thank his home caregiver Yohann and all the doctors, nurses and patient care technicians at MidState Medical in Meriden for their continued compassionate care for George. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Friends may visit with Georges family on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Woodtick Memorial Funeral Home, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Burial with full military honors will be in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
