GEORGE LEGGIO WOLCOTT ~ George Leggio, 65 of Wolcott passed away at his home after a six year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy H. McAuley. George was born January 22, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, son of Elizabeth (Kehoe) of Wolcott and the late Joseph Leggio. He was a 1966 graduate of Hofstra University and served with the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. He attained the rank of Captain and received the Bronze Star and various Air Medals. George left the military in September 1970 and had been employed in various sales and managerial positions. During his residence in Wolcott, he served on the Zoning and Inland Wetlands Commissions. He was Chairman of the Industrial Development Commission and served as a Town Constable. George was a member of the Wolcott Lions Club. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughters, Kimberly McGrath of Cromwell and Deborah Burnat of Newman, Georgia, a son, Brian and several grandchildren. All services are private.
