Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gennaro "Jerry" Genua, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 10, 2025. Jerry was the devoted husband of Geraldine (Perugini) Genua for 61 wonderful years.

Born in Frigento, Italy on January 2, 1940, Jerry was the son of the late Marciano and Giuseppina (Stanco) Genua. He came to the United States during the Flood of 1955 at the age of 15 and made Waterbury his lifelong home.

For more than 30 years, Jerry worked at Pratt & Whitney in Southington, where his work ethic and warmth left a lasting impression. After retiring, he found great joy in driving students of Westover School, proudly taking them to and from their events.

Jerry's greatest joy was his family—his three "princess" granddaughters, Rebekah, Rachel, and Sarai, and his four "prince" grandsons, Joseph Alan, Marc, Gennaro, and Jonathan Genua. They were truly the sunshine of his life; he loved watching them grow, always cheering them on with pride and affection.

He had a lifelong passion for soccer, playing well into his fifties and serving as a founding coach of the Southington Soccer League. A loyal fan of Juventus, he never missed a match on TV. He also enjoyed old Western Cowboy shows, gardening, and spending time outdoors, especially during the spring, summer, and fall.

Jerry was a man of faith and a member of Faith Living Church/Thrive Church in Plantsville, CT.

In addition to his wife Geraldine, Jerry left to carry on his legacy are his three sons Mark and his wife Katie, Jerry and his wife Lois and Joseph and his wife Sandie, his three princess granddaughters Rebekah, Rachel and Sarai Genua, his four prince grandsons Joseph A., Marc, Gennaro and Jonathan Genua; his sister Olga Sapio; sister-in-law Maria & her husband Lee Cowing; brother-in-law Joseph Perugini; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five siblings.

A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. Calling hours will begin at 10 AM until the Funeral Service at 12 noon. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Visit http://www.woodtickmemorial.com for online condolences and additional information.
