PHILIP "GENE" VOYTAS
WOLCOTT ~ Philip Eugene "Gene" Voytas, 66, of Wolcott passed away on September 23rd at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Pauline (Briere) Voytas.
Gene was born June 23, 1943 in Pottsville, PA, son of the late Peter and Mary (Gudelunis) Voytas. He was a US Army veteran having served during the Viet Nam War. He retired from Shelton Roofing Co and was a member of St. Leo the Great Church. Gene has been a resident of Wolcott since 1968. His favorite pastime was snowmobiling and he spent much of his time snowmobiling in Canada and the Northeastern states. Gene also enjoyed gardening, cooking, golfing and he enjoyed sharing these passions with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Pauline of 43 years, he leaves his daughters, Sonya Maher and her husband Mark of Wethersfield, and Tanya DAddio and her husband, Edward of Cheshire, his brother, Robert Voytas of Plymouth, his grandchildren, Alexis and Aaron, Brooke and Drew, his cousin, Michael and Carmen Weiner, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his beloved companions, Paris, Zoee, Rocky and Bear.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 am at St. Leo the Great Church, 14 Bentwood Rd., Waterbury. Family and friends are asked to gather at the church. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
