WOLCOTT- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary A. Caisse, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, friend, and pillar of the Waterbury community. Gary departed this life peacefully on June 6, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family.
Gary was born on May 14, 1950 in Waterbury to his loving parents the late Thomas and Evelyn (Rinaldi) Caisse. Gary was a proud entrepreneur and the owner of Carpet Excellence in Waterbury for 55 years.
Through his hard work and dedication, Gary built a thriving business that continues to serve as a cornerstone of the community. His commitment to exceptional service was unmatched, and his integrity and honesty earned him the respect and admiration of all who crossed his path.
In addition to his family and business, Gary was a cherished friend and confidant to many. He was known for his great storytelling abilities and his passion for history and politics. He often shared his love for the city of Waterbury and shared facts about its history with anyone who visited him at his store on East Main Street. Gary was an avid reader and golfed in a league for many years. He loved being at his store, it was truly his sanctuary.
Gary leaves his children, Jennifer (Caisse) Ryan of Wolcott, Gary M. Caisse and his wife Graciela of Waterbury, and Emily Caisse of Southbury; his brother Thomas Caisse and his wife Judy of Florida, as well as his longtime partner, affectionately known as his "woman," Taty Gotay.
Gary will also be missed by his 5 grandchildren, Sarah Ryan, Emily Ryan, Joshua Ryan, Noah Ryan and Lucius Caisse. He was predeceased by his son Philip A. Caisse and his brothers Robert R. and Glen A. Caisse.
