Obituary

WATERBURY - Mrs. Gaetane R. (Thieverge) Gilbert, 80, of Waterbury died peacefully at the Vitas Hospice in St. Marys Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph Gilbert. Gaetane was born August 5, 1931, in Thetford Mines, Canada P.Q., one of 15 children of the late Arthur and Dezilda (Grondin) Thieverge. For 15 years, she volunteered in the foster grandparent program at Easter Seals in Waterbury. Gaetane loved to spend time with her family and always made her home special. She held a large place in her heart for her children at Easter Seals. She was a member of St. Margarets Church, had a love for cooking, and was an avid fan of the UCONN girls basketball team and the New York Yankees. Mrs. Gilbert is survived by a son, Robert Gilbert and his companion Lisa Papallo of Terryville, daughters, Lucy Reardon of Watertown, Donna Veillette and her husband Francois of Waterbury, her sisters, Marie Claire Therrien and Berthe Giguere both of Magog P.Q., seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Tammie, Peter, Patrick, Daniel, Marc and five great grandchildren, Leah, Brooke, Derek, Chase, Nathan and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by many brothers and sisters. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Vitas team for their loving care. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:15 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to St. Margarets Church for a Mass at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
