Mr. Frank Janowitz Business Owner Wolcott - Frank Janowitz, 85, passed away Monday morning, Sept 23, 2013 at the VITAS Innovative Care Unit at Saint Marys Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in Cloquet, Minnesota, on January 27, 1928, son of the late John and Pearl (Mlodzianowski) Janowitz. Frank grew up on his familys farm Peck Lane Dairy in Cheshire, resided in Niagara Falls, and Roseville, California prior to settling in Wolcott. He was the husband of the late Annie (Shepard) Janowitz. Frank was an entrepreneur and started several businesses throughout his years including American Bit & Drill Steel; as well as, one of the original owners of Connecticut Hypodermic Needle. He supplied drilling equipment and applications and was a key consultant on major projects throughout the United States such as the Alaskan pipeline, Metro Subway Systems for Washington DC, Baltimore, Atlanta; Water Projects in NYC, Chicago; and Seabrook, NH Nuclear Power Plant. He had an incredible work ethic, loved telling jokes and enjoyed his family gatherings with his children. Frank is survived by his seven children including John Janowitz , Kathy Troisi, Sherry Ciccio, Donna Longo all of Connecticut, Frank H Janowitz of California, Kirk Janowitz of Pennsylvania, Clint Janowitz of Colorado, seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his ten siblings and granddaughter, Anna -Lee Janowitz. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:00 at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. directly at St. Pius church. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
