Obituary

FRANCIS C. MITCHELL WOLCOTT ~ Francis C. Mitchell, 93, of Wolcott passed away on Monday, December 28th at his home. He was the widower of Mildred (Galiada) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was born February 25, 1916 in Waterbury, son of the late John and Mary (Cowley) Mitchell. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in the China Theater and received the China War Memorial Ribbon and Badge, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Bronze Star Medal, the Victory Medal and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was a graduate of the Bentley School of Accounting. He was a devoted member of St. Pius X Church and served as lector for many years and was a member of the Holy Rosary Society. He retired in 1984 from Liden Motor Freight after 40 years of service. He leaves his sons, Peter of Wolcott, Thomas and his wife Barbara of Schenectady, NY, Stephen and his wife Maureen of San Bruno, CA, and Fred and his wife Donna of Riverside, IL, his daughter, Suzanne Pinard and her husband, Allan of Thomaston, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren and his daughter-in-law, Evinda Kasper of Middlebury. He was predeceased by his son, Robert. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to St. Pius X Church for a funeral mass at 11 am. Burial will follow in Woodtick Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorial gifts may be made to the Scholarship Fund of St. Pius X, St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott 06716.
