WATERBURY ~ Francis W. "Hoppy" Hopkins, 85, of Waterbury passed away on Saturday, May 28th at Waterbury Hospital.
Francis was born March 3, 1926 in Waterbury, son of the late Stanley and Beatrice (Veillette) Hopkins. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII and received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and was awarded the Purple Heart for courageous service. He had been employed at American Brass for several years and worked as a painting contractor in the local area. Hoppy was a member of the Brass City Recovery Club, formerly the Open Door Club, and the Morris Foundation. He enjoyed golfing and participated in tournaments at the Farmingbury Hills Golf Club.
He leaves his sister, Barbara Hamel and her husband, John of Wolcott, his former wife, Anna Hopkins of Danbury, his step-daughter, Dom Bunmi of Danbury and several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday at 11 am at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Burial with military honors to follow in Woodtick Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of the service.
