Wolcott - Frances E. Dowding, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 23, 2015. She died peacefully at the Watertown Convalarium with loved ones by her side. Fran was born on June 24, 1931 in Westerly, RI to Herbert and Mary Dowding. In 1952 Fran graduated from New England Deaconess Hospital with a degree in nursing. Fran enjoyed her career as a neonatal nurse before retiring from Waterbury Hospital. Fran was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Waterbury, serving God until she was physically unable. Those that knew Fran knew she was an independent woman with a strong will but she had a heart for God. Her work for God was not only in caring for the many babies under her charge as a nurse but also in caring for others in need. Fran was charitable to the people in her life and to her church and will be remembered for her acts of kindness. She always enjoyed children, playing golf, reading and traveling. Later in life she came to love puppy dogs as they became a source of comfort and companionship to her. Thank you to the staff at Watertown Convalarium for helping to make her last days comfortable. Funeral services will be private.
