WATERBURY ~ Fern (Fernande) Hamel, 75, of Waterbury passed away on Tuesday, December 7th at her home. She was the widow of Lucien Hamel.
Mrs. Hamel was born January 27, 1935 in Waterbury, daughter of the late George and Emma (Talbot) Cloutier. She retired in 1985 from Colonial Bank after 15 years of service. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening and recently she enjoyed walks on the beach. She was passionate about visiting her sister Muriel and her husband, Neil and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Fern loved going out for lunch or dinner at local restaurants.
She leaves her son, Neil Hamel and his wife, Linda of Oakville, her grandchildren, Lisa and Brian Hamel, and her sister Muriel Soucy and her husband Neil of Wolcott, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:30 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to St. Pius X Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Old St. Joseph Cemetery, Waterbury.
