ERNEST W. TIRENDI LOCAL BANKER WOLCOTT ~ Ernest W. Tirendi, 73, of Wolcott passed away on Monday, December 22 at St. Marys Hospital. He was the husband of Rosemary A. (McAuliffe) Tirendi. Mr. Tirendi was born February 25, 1935 in Waterbury, son of the late James and Mary (Ciccio) Tirendi. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1954 until 1960 and received the National Service Medal. For many years, he served as Vice-President of the Loan Division at Security Savings and Loan. Prior employment included The Bank of Boston. He enjoyed Karaoke and followed the U-Conn Huskies games. Ernest loved to travel and found crossword puzzles stimulating. Besides his wife, Rosemary of 53 years, he leaves his daughters, Debra Gleason and her husband, Carl Kohlberg of Wolcott, and Lori Basile and her husband, John of Wolcott., his sister, Eleanor Mancuso and her husband, Val of Waterbury, his grandchildren, Justin, Erica, Taylor and Shawn and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Vincenza and her husband Thomas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27 at 10:30 am at the Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Evening visitation will be held on Friday, December 26 from 6 to 8 pm.
