Obituary

EDWARD W. BROWN Edward W. Brown, 82, of Sarasota Fl, formerly of Wolcott, passed away on Sunday, November 30th at the Veterans Hospital in West Haven, CT. He was the widower of Barbara (OBrien) Brown. Mr. Brown was born December 10, 1925 in Waterbury, son of the late Edward and Rosalie (Carolan) Brown. He served in WWII as a Merchant Marine. He settled in Wolcott where he raised his eight children. He was a selectman in Wolcott in the 1960s. He retired from Scovill Manufacturing/Century Brass and moved to Sarasota, FL. He was a member of St. Pius X Church; he loved music and enjoyed playing cards with his family. He is survived by his children, Suzanne Monnerat and her husband Mark of Bristol, Barbara T. Brown of Sarasota, FL., William Brown and his wife Karen, Sharon Ritucci and her husband Louis, Maureen Lagasse and her husband Thomas all of Wolcott, Gloria Mrazik and her husband Jeffery of Mt. Vernon, ME., and Roselyn Goldman and her husband Joseph of Wolcott. He is also survived by a daughter in law Rosa Brown of Sarasota, Fl., eighteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren two brothers Richard Brown of Middlebury and Robert Brown of New York, a sister Carolyn Senior of Massachusetts and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Edward J. Brown, three sisters Katherine Mark, Joan McElligot, Roselyn Shay and a brother Donald Brown. The family will like to express their gratitude and thanks to the Doctors, nurses and staff of the West Haven Veteran Hospital for the loving care given to Mr. Brown. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 4that 9:30am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., to St. Pius X Church for a mass at 10:30am. Burial will follow at the New St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friend may call at the funeral on Wednesday from 5 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Veterans Hospital, V.A. Hospice Unit, 950 Campbell Avenue, West Haven, CT. 06516.
