Obituary

Wolcott - Mrs. Dorothy M. (Miller) Moore of Woodtick Road passed after a long illness on March 9, 2012. Dorothy was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on June 5, 1924 to the late Haywood and Mable Miller and was the widow of Frank Moore. Dorothy worked for 20 years for the City of Waterbury as a School Teacher at both Walsh and Rotella schools. She had received her masters degree from Central Connecticut State University. She had a passion for cooking, writing, traveling and gardening. She was very active in the works of the Mt. Olive AME Zion Church in Waterbury and was one of the founders of the senior center in the church as well as a former chairperson on the board of trustees. Dorothy also was a past President of the Waterbury Garden Club and the Wolcott PTA. She was a wonderful teacher and mother to her children and others. She is survived by a son, Shawn Moore of Washington, DC, her daughters, Sharon Moore and her husband Robert Young of Wolcott, Krista Moore of Wolcott, a grandchild Bianca Diaz of the Dominican Republic and many friends and extended family. She was predeceased by a son Kenneth Moore in 2008. A Celebration of Dorothys life will be held on Wednesday, March 14th at Mt. Olive AME Zion Church, 82 Pearl St, Waterbury at 11:00 am. A private burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery. Woodtick Memorial has been entrusted with her care.
