Southington - Doris (Charbonneau) Harbanuk, 99, formerly of Wolcott, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the home of her daughter. She was the wife of the late Stephen E. Harbanuk, Sr. She is survived by her son, Stephen (Nancy); daughters, Deborah Cooney (Eugene), and Sandra; son Roger (Denise); 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. Including her husband of 67 years, Stephen E. Harbanuk; Doris was predeceased by her parents Rose and Donat Charbonneau; and her brothers, Leo, Wilfred, Gerard, Pete, Alfred, Walter, and Harold; and sisters, Lillian Schmidt, and Irene Morin. She was born in Waterbury on July 28, 1921; graduated from Leavenworth H.S. (1940) and attended St. Mary's Hospital Nursing School. Doris and Steve were founding members of St. Pius X Church; and she was a past president of Catholic Daughters, past president of Ladies Guild, and former member of the Wolcott Senior Association. Doris is best remembered for her wonderful Sunday family dinners, delicious cakes, and her spirit of adventure. She enjoyed traveling, especially the many cruises taken with Steve and sister Lillian, hot air ballooning, helicoptering to glaciers in Alaska, trips to the casino and her nightly glass of wine (or two). She held a special place in her heart for all her grandchildren and could be relied upon to step in to help in any way she could... a life well-lived. Walk through calling hours will be Wednesday, February 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. A funeral mass will be held at St. Pius Church, 525 Woodtick Road, on Thursday at 10 a.m. Meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required.
