Dimas Bosques
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather & Friend
Mr. Dimas Bosques, 87, of Wolcott, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12th at his home, surrounded by his loving family who adored him.
Dimas was born and raised in Capa, Moca, Puerto Rico. In 1962, he was drafted into the United States Army at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico. He later moved to Manhattan, New York. Life, in its faithful way, brought Dimas and the love of his life, Iris, together in New York where they met, later married in 1967. Together, they began a beautiful journey that would span 58 unforgettable years.
Dimas and his wife shared a true and timeless love story, a bond rooted in deep respect, devotion, and unwavering commitment. Their marriage was filled with gentle moments, warm laughter, and the kind of companionship that only grows stronger with time. Dimas was a man of old traditions, guided by faith and anchored by family. He cherished his wife beyond measure, held his children close to his heart, and found endless joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were his world, and he loved them with a quiet strength and a full, generous heart.
Their home was a place of warmth, faith, and love, a home where memories were made, holidays were celebrated, and where laughter never failed to fill the rooms. He was known as "Papi" to all, and he will be deeply missed.
Faith was the foundation of Dimas' life. He was a devoted parishioner for many years at Our Lady of Good Council, in Newark. Dimas served as a Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD and Pre-Cana, and directed Catholic Men's Conference Retreats. He lived his faith with humility, kindness, and a heart always willing to serve.
For many years, Dimas worked as a tool and die maker for the Wiss Scissor Company in Newark, NJ. When the company relocated in the 1980s, he continued his dedication to hard work by joining St. Vincent Academy High School, in Newark, as a custodian, a role he served with pride until his retirement in 2003. Upon his retirement, he and his wife settled in Waterbury, CT and continued to serve his parish community as a devoted Catholic at All Saints / St. Anne Church, Waterbury.
Dimas found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, baseball, woodcarving, completing thousand-piece puzzles, and collecting stamps and coins. A proud New York Mets fan, he rarely missed a game. Dimas enjoyed camping and traveling with his family. He also had a playful spirit and was known for making Puerto Rican moonshine, "ron-cania" always shared with a wink and a smile.
Of course, no one could ever beat him in dominoes. It was his game, his passion and everyone knew that no matter who challenged him; Dimas almost always had the winning hand and the grin to prove it.
Above all, Dimas was a family man. His greatest blessings were the people he loved, and he made sure they knew it in his laughter, in his presence, in the stories he told, and in the traditions he passed down. His legacy is one of love, strength, faith, and the many unforgettable memories he leaves behind.
Dimas is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Iris (née Gonzalez) Bosques; his devoted children Yvette Marciano and her husband Tom, Mayra Bosques and her husband Julio, Dimas Bosques Jr. and his wife Lisa; his cherished grandchildren Eric Cardona, Crystal Wilcox and her husband Henry II, Tommy Marciano Jr., Emily Bosques, Kaylee Bosques Atchison
