DIANE MARIE DAMBOISE
On the evening of June 26, 2010, Diane Marie (Saucier) Damboise found her angel wings and flew to meet our heavenly father. Diane was at home under the care of her family and hospice when her battle with lung cancer came to an end. Diane was 64 years old.
During her two year battle, her strength and will to survive amazed all those around her. She was always wearing her "Life is Good" hat and warm smile, which symbolized her upbeat attitude toward the world around her, and she taught her family and friends a valuable lesson about the preciousness of life.
Diane never stopped enjoying life. She continued playing cards with her family and friends and relished her triumphs in "setback tournaments." She also loved to crochet and knit gifts for her loved ones, especially beautiful blankets for the new babies in her life. Her grandchildren cherished their blankets and her oldest granddaughters enjoy bragging to others about the blankets their grammy made for them with love. Diane was an accomplished interior decorator and loved hanging wallpaper with her partner in crime, Maxine.
Those who knew Diane are familiar with her compassion and generosity. She continually placed the needs of others before her own needs and offered support to everyone. As the rock of her family, others came to her for guidance, shelter, an ear to listen, and a shoulder to lean on. She always opened her heart and her home to family members during their time of need and did everything she could to help her loved ones.
Diane is survived by her best friend, soulmate, and husband of 44 years, Vincent Joseph Damboise; her mother Celina (Theriault) Saucier of Bristol; a son, Kirk Damboise and his wife Amy of New Hartford; a daughter, Denise Godin and her husband Ken of Bristol; six grandchildren, also known as the loves of her life and her "babies," Paige, Chantal, Reece, Beaudin, Simone, and Monique; two sisters, Imogene Slamon and her husband Richard of Granby; Shirley Ouellette of Bristol; a brother Gordon Saucier of East Hartford; a goddaughter, who is like a daughter to Diane, Tina Metesky of Bristol; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
