With broken hearts we announce the passing of Deacon Francis Xavier Bandeira, 94, beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Bisaillon) Bandeira, on Wednesday July 1st at his home surrounded by his loving family in Waterbury.
Mr. Bandeira was born on March 26, 1932, in Waterbury, son of the late Jose M. and Florida (Morin) Bandeira. He served in the US Army and was stationed in France during the Korean War. He worked as a toolmaker employed by Draher Machine Co., Anaconda American Brass and retired from Anamet Inc.
On November 13, 1976, Francis Xavier Bandeira was ordained a Permanent Deacon and served as the first deacon to serve at St. Anne Church in Waterbury over 30 years. As a deacon he was privileged to baptize and give first communion to his grandchildren and many of his nieces and nephews. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anne’s where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, the choir, and the parish council. He was also a CCD and CYO instructor there.
Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are his children, Anita Warren of Wolcott, Joseph H. Bandeira of Waterbury and his wife Michelle; his grandchildren Jenifer Bartoli and her husband, Robert, Erica Kuczenski and her husband Jordan, Joseph M. Bandeira and his girlfriend Nicole Tofan, and Matthew Warren and his wife Laura; his great granddaughters, Amelia and Ava Bartoli; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Edward Bandeira.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 7th at St. Anne Church/All Saints Todos Los Santos Parish 515 S. Main St. followed by burial with military honors in Calvary cemetery.
