Mrs. Claire Marie (Langlais) (Picard) Gervais
WATERBURY ~ Mrs. Claire Marie (Langlais) (Picard) Gervais, 96, passed away on Saturday, March 27th at St. Marys Hospital. She was the widow of Albert Picard and Roger Gervais.
Claire was born June 29, 1913 in St. Leonard, N.B., Canada, daughter of the late Frank and Angela (Roy) Langlais.
Marie was devoted to the Shrine of Saint Anne Church in many ways. She was a member of the Les Dames de St. Anne, Conseil Villa Maria, St. Anne School Mothers Club, the Blessed Sacrament Group and she was one of the first members of the Legion of Mary. Claire was known for her devoted visits to local nursing homes, bringing prayer and rosary beads to patients. Marie worked for many years as a salesperson for home products with demonstration. In 1969 she ran for Town Clerk on the democratic ticket.
She leaves her son, Donald Picard and his wife, Irene of Waterbury and Florida, three daughters, Claire LeBlanc of Waterbury, Geraldine Lambert and her husband Norman of Waterbury, Kathleen Fontaine and her husband Robert of Wolcott, eleven loving stepchildren, Gerard, Rachelle, Ginnette, Bertin, Nicole, Daniel, Darius, Diane, Denise, Colette, Jacques, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a daughter-in-law, Constance Picard and many step grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Albert Picard, a son-in-law Bernard LeBlanc and two step-sons, Robert and Hector.
Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the Shrine of Saint Anne on Wednesday, March 31st, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours will be held at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott, on Tuesday, March 30th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
