WATERBURY ~ Mrs. Cecile A. (Labrie) Brier, 97, died in Waterbury at St. Marys Hospital on February 15, 2012. Cecile, wife of the late Lionel Brier, was born October 19, 1914 in Domar, Kansas, the 11th child of Peter and Alexina (Breault) Labrie.
Cecile was married in Swanton, VT to Lionel in 1935 where she lived until moving to Middlebury where she raised her family and worked for many years. In her later years, she moved to Waterbury and resided with her daughter, Phyllis where she remained for the rest of her life. She and Lionel enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage until his death in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Pius X Church. She loved to travel, cook, sew, visit the casino, and pull practical jokes. Her family was the joy of her life.
She will be missed by her daughter Phyllis Rodrigue and her husband John of Waterbury, her son, George Brier and his wife, Bonnie of Watertown, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Pauline Schmidt, a great grandson, Alan Gelmini, and her brothers and sisters, most recently Albina Bernier who passed away on February 10, 2012.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 8:45 from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to St. Pius X Church for a funeral mass at 10 am. Burial will follow in Old St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 pm.
