Obituary

CAROLINE J. SANANGELO Waterbury ~ Caroline Jane (Angiolillo) SanAngelo, 83, of Waterbury, formerly of Naugatuck and Wolcott died Friday, November 28 at Cedar Lane Rehabilitation & Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. Mrs. SanAngelo was born September 9, 1925 in Naugatuck, daughter of the late Savario "Frank" and Ester (Tangradi) SanAngelo. Caroline worked at Southbury Training School where she was known affectionately as "Angie" and retired from there in 1986. She was a lifelong Democrat and an avid follower of Politics. She volunteered her services for the Naugatuck Democratic Party from the late 1950s to the late 1960s and later worked on several campaigns throughout the Waterbury area. She was also an active union organizer in the 1960s. She loved studying and reading about history and Asian culture. She also loved music and dancing. She was known for her "tell it like it is" personality and for her commitment to those she loved. If anyone was in need, she would drop everything to help them out. As she liked to say: She was a survivor, and will truly be missed. She leaves behind three children, Cpt. Domenic Angiolillo of the Wolcott Police Department and his wife Elaine of Wolcott, Rev, Tanya Ison and her husband Ricky of Sugarloaf, FL and Frank Angiolillo of Ocala, FL. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Michelle Angiolillo Thies and Loren Angiolillo of Wolcott, Todd Poirier of Waterbury, Airman First Class Daniel Allshouse of Okinawa, Japan, Sherri Angiolillo Greteman, Laura Briesch and Eric Angiolillo of Florida. She also leaves behind three great grandchildren Julia Thies, Colin Poirier, and Logan Poirier. She is survived by her brothers, Frank SanAngelo of Naugatuck and Tony SanAngelo of Waterbury. She was one of ten children and was predeceased by sisters, Carmella Geloso, Mary Ann SanAngelo, Anna Przybylka, and brothers, Rocco SanAngelo, Michael SanAngelo, Joe SanAngelo, and Tano SanAngelo. She was the former wife of the late William J. Angiolillo. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:45 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott to St. Leo the Great Church for a mass at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday (Today) from 4 to 7 pm.
