Obituary

Wolcott ~ Bertha E. (Gagne) Chasse, 94 of Wolcott passed to her eternal reward on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care at St. Marys Hospital. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Sylvio Chasse. Bertha was born July 17, 1918 in Fontaine Bleu, P.Q., Canada, daughter of the late Fred and Florence (Bourque) Gagne. She was one of the original members of St. Pius X Church and a member of the Ladies Guild. She was a member of the Charles Reidyke Senior Center. She lived a life full of dedication, perseverance and good will. She was always upbeat in spite of numerous trials and remained steadfast in her faith and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a great teacher in the true meaning of love. Bertha is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Kelley of Wolcott and Simone Greatorex of New Port Richey, FL and her partner, Richard Moore; six sons, Norman and wife Joan of Novi, Michigan, Roger and wife Patricia of Bristol, Roland of Waterbury, Louis and wife Peggy of Palmetto, FL, Alan of Mansfield, and Gregory and wife Jackie of Oakville, her sister, Rose Hart of Southington, 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren on the way and 4 step grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am at St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Everyone is asked to meet at the church. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Family and friends may call at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott on Friday from 5 pm to 8 pm. Memorial gifts may be made to the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance, P.O.
