Obituary

WOLCOTT ~ Bernard "Dick" Prescott, Jr., 87, of Wolcott passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Vitas Unit at St. Marys Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Theresa (Doyon) Prescott. Dick was born April 16, 1924 in Boston, MA, son of the late Bernard and Mary (MacDonald) Prescott, Sr. He was a decorated WWII veteran serving with the U.S. Navy and was a member of the VFW, Post 1979 and the American Legion Post 165. Dick was the owner of D & T Transportation Co and retired from MacDermid, Inc. after 35 years as traffic manager. Following retirement, he worked at EDC of Southington for 10 years. He was a member of the Waterbury Chamber of Commerce and the Southington Chamber of Commerce where he received the Southington Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year Award in 1993. He was also a member of the Delta NuAlpha. Besides his wife, Theresa of 56 years, he leaves his children, Lucille Held and her husband, Edward of Ladys Island, S.C., Ronald Rousseau and his wife Ester of Northfield, Suzanne Charette and her husband, Butch of Ocala, FL, Rita Ann Tomasiewicz and her husband, Bill of Waterbury, Cindi Johnson and her husband, Donald of Southington, Catherine Ordway and her husband, Thomas of Thomaston, and Patricia Padagis and her husband, Edward of Wolcott, his brother, Theodore Prescott of Wolcott, his sister, Eleanor Pierce of Brookline, ME, 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous great great grandchildren. Dick was predeceased by his grandchildren, Antonia Tomasiewicz and Kurt Charette and his sister Lucilee Blaisdell-Culhane. The Prescott family would like to express a special thanks to the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance Corps for their compassion during Dicks illness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott at 5:30. Burial will be private. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 pm until the time of the service.
