WATERBURY- Mrs. Barbara (Rupenski) Hickey, 93, wife of the late John J. Hickey for 67 years, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Barbara was born on February 27, 1930, at her house in Thomaston, daughter of the late William and Catherine (Bartoshienski) Rupenski. Her family was originally from Thomaston but when she was a child they moved to Waterbury where she lived most of her life. After finishing school, she worked at several different places, but her main focuses were her family, her home and her poodles. She raised two sons Kevin and Wayne Hickey and a daughter Karen (Hickey) Kraft. She was also blessed with four grandchildren Tracy (Kraft) Cyr, Matthew and Timothy Kraft, Jason Hickey, and four great-grandchildren Katelyn, Jessica, Emily and Tristan. She was predeceased by her sister Rosalie (Rupenski) Michaud and brother William Rupenski. She was very faithful and attended Sts. Peter and Paul Church and when she could not attend loved to watch the Mass on television. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 in Woodtick Cemetery in Wolcott beginning at 1 PM.
