Mrs. Barbara J. (Loranger) Flageole, loving wife of Ernest Flageole, passed away peacefully Sunday April 12th at the age of 88 at LiveWell in Plantsville.

Barbara was born on September 26,1937 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Oscar and Rollande (Vir) Loranger. She graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School in 1955 and attended college.

On June 7, 1958, Barbara married her sweetheart Ernest Flageole. They lived in Wolcott for nearly 60 years and she worked at Wakelee School while raising her three daughters.

Barbara was full of energy. She was a UConn women’s basketball superfan and enjoyed attending WNBA games. Barbara also loved to travel and go on cruises with her husband. If she wasn’t watching basketball, she could be found at Winding Trails in Farmington or Hammonasset Beach in Madison. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was the life of the party and lit up every room she walked into.

Besides her husband of 67 years, left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sandra McInnis, Michelle Kitchen, and Danielle Phelan. Her greatest joy were her five grandchildren, Nicole Rittuci, Malcolm and Mikaila Kitchen, and Patrick and Kaylee Phelan. She was predeceased by her brothers Paul and Robert Loranger and her sister Rachel Duguay.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Barbara’s life on Friday April 17th at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd in Wolcott with calling hours beginning at 9:30 AM to St. Pius Church/St. Basil Parish for Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM.
