Armand J. Brouillard
Loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend
WOLCOTT- Mr. Armand Joseph Brouillard, 88, husband of the late Rita (Champagne) Brouillard who recently passed in August 2024, died on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Waterbury Hospital.
Born in Waterbury on July 17, 1936, Armand was the son of the late Theodore and Alice (Goyette) Brouillard. He served in the US Army National Guard. For many years, Armand owned a shoe repair business with his wife Rita, Armands Shoe Hospital, located in downtown Waterbury next door to the Palace Theater and later moving to East Main St by Calvary Cemetery. After they closed the shoe repair, Armand worked for about 10 years at the Stop and Shop grocery store on Wolcott Rd in Waterbury.
Armands greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. In his earlier days, he loved watching Sunday morning cartoons with his 3 children, as that was his only day off from work. Later on in life, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, mainly outdoors, swimming in the pool or picking vegetables in his garden. His garden kept him busy each day as it was over-sized, so he especially would share vegies with his neighbors and friends. In recent years, he and Rita enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center in Waterbury playing cards and Armand specifically enjoyed playing and calling bingo with his friends at his apartment complex.
Armand is survived by his son Armand Brouillard Jr. and his girlfriend Rita Kay Stark, his daughters Lynn and her husband Michael Calabrese, and Dana and her husband Frank Angelicola; his grandchildren Kurt Gelinas and his significant other Joan Aviles, Richard Velez and his wife Kassandra, William Brouillard and his wife Brittany, Allen Gelinas and his wife Mallory, Catlin Brouillard and her fianc Hunter Hess, Rebecka Brouillard and her partner Grace Winter, Avery Brouillard, Aidan Brouillard, Kyle Gelinas and his wife Katy, David Gelinas and his wife Gabrielle, and Kiersten Ashley Aiello; his great grandchildren Madeline Brouillard, and Beckett, Emily, Ethan, Alexander, and Harper Gelinas. He also leaves his brother Fernand Brouillard and his sisters Dolores Bergeron and Rita LaMadeline.
In addition to his wife Rita, Armand was predeceased by his brothers Rene, Maurice, Theodore, and Edgar Brouillard as well as his sister-in-law Lucy Sexton.
The family would like to thank the workers at Pat IGA for their care and concern for Armand that day.
