WOLCOTT- Antonio "Tony" Bento, 83, beloved husband of Marilyn (DeMaida) Bento, of Wolcott passed away on Thursday, September 21st at Ingraham Manor in Bristol. Tony was born in Waterbury on January 8, 1940, son of the late Francisco and Grace (Simone) Bento. He was a 1958 graduate of Kaynor Technical High School. Following high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, he went on to have a rewarding career as an electrician for numerous local companies. He was a member of the Mason Lodge 146 and the Shriners, and the American Legion Post 165 in Wolcott. He most enjoyed being with his family, especially the summer vacations they spent together. His other passions included working in his yard, tinkering in his garage, and all things mechanical including his prized 1937 bulldozer. Of course, all were done with Marilyn by his side.
In addition to his wife Marilyn of 54 years, Tony will be missed by his daughters Gina (Vincent) Scherbner and Patricia Bento, and a son Anthony (Maria) Bento. He was blessed to have four grandchildren, Jacqualyn and Ethan Scherbner, and Adrian and Julian Bento. He had three siblings, a sister Laura (Robert) Belanger and was predeceased by his brother Frank (Roberta) Bento and his sister Mary (Fred) Mendyka. He also leaves behind a large extended family and many friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ingraham Manor and Bristol Home Care and Hospice Agency for the exceptional care they provided to Tony and his family. The family would also like to recognize his wonderful roommate and friend, Mike.
According to his wishes, there will be no calling hours and all funeral services will be private. Visit www.woodtick memorial.com for online condolences. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research.
