ANTHONY "TENNESSEE" TISCIA
WATERBURY ~ Anthony "Tennessee" Tiscia, 88, of Waterbury passed away on Monday, February 1st at St. Marys Hospital. He was the husband of Irene (Martin) Tiscia.
"Tennessee" was born June 14, 1921 in Birmingham, AL, son of the late Leonardo and Carolina (Carrafa) Tiscia. He resided in Memphis, Tennessee before entering the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of WWII and received the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon. He retired from J.E. Smith Lumber Co. in 1982 after 40 years of service. In his younger years, he coached Little League baseball and was an avid fan of the Yankees, Giants, Celtics and UConn Girls. He also was a coin collector and a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church. His family was very important to him and he will be remembered as a loving husband, Dad, Grandfather and Great grandfather.
Besides his wife, Irene of 64 years, he leaves his son Ron Tiscia, Sr. and his wife Lauren of Plymouth, his daughter, Cynthia Tiscia of Waterbury, his brother, Matthew Tiscia of Memphis, TN, his sister, Magdalene "Mickey" Gay of Bartlett, TN, his grandsons, Ron Tiscia, Jr. and his fiance, Kristen Boyles, Anthony II and Michael Tiscia, and his great grandson, Braedan Tiscia. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Nicholas, Louis and Leonard, Jr. and his sister, Celeste Andreini.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:15 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to St. Francis Xavier Church for a funeral mass at 9:30 am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm.
