Wolcott- Ann (Filanda), Marino, age 98, passed away peacefully on Friday May 6, 2016 at Wolcott View Manor surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Sandy Marino Sr.
Ann was born on September 2, 1917, in Middletown, Connecticut and graduated from Middletown High School. Ann delighted in serving her family and friends to whom she was dedicated. She was the heart of her family and she enjoyed making home cooked Sunday dinners, especially her meatballs pasta and sauce.
She was a charter member of the Wolcott VFW ladies auxiliary, member of the Italian society of Middletown. She was an active member of the St. Pius Choir, rosary society, and Ladies guild. In addition she was a former member of the Town of Wolcott Commission of Aging. She was the Secretary and bookkeeper of Sandys TV and Appliance in Wolcott.
Ann is survived by her daughter Maria Volza, her sons, Anthony, Thomas, (Dianne) , Sandy Marino. Her grandchildren, Gina (Shane) Healy, Lia (Sean) Holbrook, Sarah (Russ) Luppino, Veronica, Kevin, Andrew, Christopher, and Ben. Predeceased by her Daughter-in-law Mary Lou Marino, Son-in-law Rich Volza, and her grandson Eric Marino. Sister Lucy, Brothers, Salvatore, Peter, Guy and Joe.
Calling hours will be held Monday, May 9 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from Woodtick Memorial, to St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
Anns family would like to thank the staff at Wolcott View Manor, Hartford HealthCare and Home Hospice for all their loving and compassionate care.
