WOLCOTT ~ Angela Marie (Ciarleglio) Polletta, 72, of Wolcott passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Angela was the wife of Salvatore Polletta, Sr.
Angela was born June 11, 1940 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Pasquale and Antoinette (Rossi) Ciarleglio. Besides her husband, Salvatore of nearly 39 years, she leaves a daughter, AnnaMaria Laidlaw and her husband, Gavin of Brooklyn, NY, a son, Salvatore Polletta, Jr. and his wife Diane of Stamford, a grandson, Alexander, a granddaughter, Emma, a sister, Louise Norville and her husband, John of Ormand Beach, FL, a brother, Pat Ciarleglio and his wife, Janet of Washington, D.C., many loving nieces and nephews, two aunts, and many loving cousins and friends.
Angela graduated from Hopeville Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School. She was a graduate of the Diocesan Sisters College (a branch of St. Josephs College) with a B.S. in Elementary Education and from SCSU with an M.A. in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She spent 32 years in the teaching profession: grades 2 and 3 in Hartford and Bridgeport, and as a speech pathologist (a profession that she loved very much) in Southington and Wolcott. She was a member of St. Pius X Church, the church choir and the Altar Society. She was a sponsor of a child in Chile, Leandro; a mentor of students at Alcott School, currently Lexi; a caretaker of her mother, aunt and uncle, and a neighborhood volunteer for the Institute of Cancer Research and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Angela enjoyed doing crossword puzzles with her husband, working in her flower beds, reading, yoga, opera, photography, sharing time with friends, walking, babysitting, massage and singing in the choir.
She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 am from Woodtick Memorial to St. Pius X Church for a funeral mass at 10 am. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm.
