Obituary

Waterbury - Andrew A. Olearnick, Jr., 75 passed away on December 19, 2020. He was predeceased by his first wife Judy (Gazso) Olearnick, his parents Andrew A. Sr. & Pauline (Ridolfi) Olearnick, his beloved Aunt and Uncle & adoptive parents Ben & Lydia (Brunori) Ridolfi; and his sister AnneMarie (Olearnick) Vegi. He is survived by his wife Roberta (Bento), his son Kevin & his long-time companion, Tammy Hill; his daughter & son-in-law Amy & Chris Hekeler, his granddaughter Brynna, a sister Arlene Valentine and her husband Russ, and his sister Beverly Shore, a brother-in-law, John Vegi and a sister-in-law Patricia Gazso. He also leaves behind Robertas children, Amy (Bento) & Ron LaPerche and their sons Dale Christine (Bento) & Kevin Cranney and their daughters, Marissa & Olivia; and Mary (Bento) & Mark Bonaventura and their children Mia & Michael; several nieces and nephews; Kim, Wendy, Jason, Katie, Chris, Greg, Christina, Kim, Paul and Jonathan and their husbands & wives, along with many cousins and friends. He grew up in Fairfield and Bridgeport, was a faithful altar boy and loved The New York Football Giants, Dave Brubeck, and Western Movies. He was a graduate of the Class of 63 of Bullard Havens Technical High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Forrest Sherman DD-931, a Destroyer stationed in Newport, Rhode Island, earning the Rank of E-4 and the National Defense Service Medal. After his service to our country, he enjoyed working for VCA, Specialty Packaging and Owens-Illinois as a tool maker and then later as an injection molding specialist. He was an active member of SPE; the Society of Plastic Engineers. As a veteran he was proud to serve as a past Commander of the Wolcott American Legion and was a long-time member of The Waterbury Garden Club. He was a kind and loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Michaels Church, 62 Saint Michaels Drive, Waterbury. Masks and social distancing are required.
