MIDDLEBURY ~ Alfred J. Evon, Jr., 83, of Middlebury passed away on Friday. October 25, 2013 at Abbott Terrace. He was the widower of Theresa (Chartier) Evon. Alfred was born December 27, 1929 in Waterbury, son of the late Alfred and Mary Elizabeth (Tyrrell) Evon and his late stepmother, Rita (Berthiaume) Evon. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He retired from Scovill Mfg. after many years of service. Alfred was known for his generosity in extending a helping hand to all who needed it. Alfred leaves his sons, Gary Evon of Bristol and Glenn Evon of North Port FL, his siblings, Mary Sosbe of Wolcott, Lois Honyotski of Waterbury, Lawrence Evon and Paul Evon, Sr., both of Oakville, 4 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Roger, Francis, Gerald and Arnold Evon. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
