Waterbury - Al Nadeau, 54, died on January 6, 2016 after several years of battling an illness. His wife and several family members were by his side.
Al was born on February 12, 1961 to Joseph and Bella (Lagasse) Nadeau. Al attended Sacred Heart High School and graduated from Johnson and Wales University for Culinary Arts and worked as a chef at several prestigious restaurants for about 10 years. Al then went back to college and graduated from Central Connecticut State College with a degree in Management of Information Systems. Al worked as a project manager at several large insurance companies until he could no longer work due to the disease he was fighting.
Al was very active and enjoyed participating and competing in many outdoor activities throughout the years. Al completed nine marathons and several triathlons. He also enjoyed playing golf, tennis, skiing and scuba diving. Al especially enjoyed being involved in activities with his sons. Al coached his sons youth teams and took karate lessons with his son Alec for several years, he also enjoyed going for runs in the West Hartford reservoir with is son Jacob. Al never lost his passion for cooking and you were lucky if you were invited to one of the many gourmet dinner parties that he hosted throughout the years. Al will be remembered for being a kind man and a loyal friend with a great sense of humor.
Al leaves behind his wife, Nancy (Day) Nadeau; two sons from a previous marriage to Barbara Nadeau, Jacob, age 23, and Alec, age 20. In addition he also leaves behind his mother Bella Nadeau; he was predeceased by his father Joseph Nadeau. He leaves behind three sisters, Louise Nadeau, Yvette Tingle and her husband Richard, and Rita Nadeau-Brieve; and two nieces and a nephew, Nicole, Kellie and Patrick Tingle. Al had a group of lifelong friends that he knew since first grade and hung around with up to his time of death, Gary Pelosi, Bob Greene, Tom Monnerat and Bill Moriarty. Al was predeceased by his close friend Tom Tedesco.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, January 10 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 11 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Rd., Waterbury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be private.
