 SOUTHINGTON- Roland M. Veillette, 90, beloved husband of Marguerite J. (Frenette) Veillette passed away peacefully at Southington Care Center on Sunday morning surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Cap de La Madeline, Quebec, Canada in January 20, 1934, he was the son of the late Joseph and Albina (Dumas) Veillette. He was a retired employee of Carpin Manufacturing and a former parishioner of St. Margaret Church in Waterbury.

Roland had an incredible work ethic. He believed you should do some kind of work every day. He loved to spend time outdoors while sitting in the driveway as friends from the Rivercrest community would stop by and chat, often till dusk. He was an avid reader of the local news papers and news magazines from Quebec Canada. Collecting Hess trucks and other limited edition trucks was a favorite past time of his. As a true Canadian he was a huge fan of the Montreal Canadians Hockey team. He also enjoyed traveling to Florida with relatives and occasional trips to the casino.

In addition to his wife “Margo” of  66 years, left to carry on his legacy are his two sons Francois Veillette and his wife Donna, Yvon Veillette and his wife Darlene, three grandchildren Daniel Veillette and his partner Sarah Misener, Marc Veillette and his wife Sara, Stephanie Veillette and her fiancé Matthew Smith.  He also leaves brothers Marcel and his wife Regina Veillette, Raymond, Jean Pierre, Charles Henry, and Real Veillette and his wife Michele. He was predeceased by sisters Madeline LeBerre, Pierrette Veillette, Rita Veillette and brothers Jacques and Gilles Veillette.

Friends and family are invited to a Funeral Mass on Tuesday February 27th at St. Luke Parish/Mary our Queen Church 248 Savage St. in Plantsville at 9 AM. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Internment will follow in the Mausoleum at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Calling hours will be on Monday, Feb 26th from 5 to 7 PM at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. Visit www.woodtickmemorial.com for online condolences and more information.
