North Port, FL – Mrs. Rita A. (Hamel) Lacombe, 83, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 5, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Roger F. Lacombe.
Rita was born August 7, 1933 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Eugene and Flore (Ricard) Hamel. Raised in Waterbury, she attended St. Anne Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School, and later worked at Bradlees for over twenty years as a sales clerk. In 1991, Rita and Roger moved to Florida, where they enjoyed their retirement. Rita will be remembered for her devotion to her family, love of crafts, dancing, and playing cards with friends. She had been a long time communicant of the Shrine of St. Anne.
In addition to her husband Roger, with whom she had been married for nearly 65 years, she is survived by two sons, David Lacombe, and his wife Merrily of Plantsville, and Ken Lacombe, and his wife Theresa of Southington; one daughter, Lisa Dumond, and her husband Tom of Prospect; two brothers, Lucien Hamel of CA and Richard Hamel of Meriden; one sister, Gisele McNamara of Ft. Myers, FL; nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Mark and Allan Lacombe, one brother, Andrew Hamel, and two sisters, Jeanne Theroux and Theresa Lagasse.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 20, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 A.M. at the Shrine of St. Anne in Waterbury.
