Flagler Beach, FL – Mr. Donald P. Roy, 77, formerly of Wolcott, passed away on Friday evening, January 19, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with his family by his side. He was the husband of Judith (LeBeau) Roy.

Donald was born April 30, 1940 in Bristol, son of the late Elmer and Corrinne (Delarm) Roy. Raised in Bristol he attended local schools and was a graduate of Bristol Technical High School, class of 1959. He married the love of his life in 1960, and she remained a devoted wife until his passing. He had served honorably in the United States Navy. Following his discharge from the Navy he was employed by Pratt and Whitney for 35 years. He was a lifetime member of the Wolcott VFW Post 1979. In 2003 he and his wife Judith retired to Flagler Beach, they had been Wolcott residents for over 35 years. He enjoyed all aspects of gardening and had an accomplished green thumb. He also enjoyed playing sports and some of his fondest memories were his slow pitch softball days with the Wolcott Suds. He looked forward to a good NFL football game and was a lifetime Boston Red Sox fan. Most of all he cherished the visits from his family when they travelled to Florida. He was affectionately referred to as “Poppop” by his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, James P. Roy of Burlington; one daughter, Donna M. Roy/Karl Sands of New Britian; one brother, Stephen (Tammy) Roy of Deltona FL; one sister, Janet (John) Lozinski of Terryville CT and Palmetto FL; five grandchildren, Andrea Riccio, Matthew Knapp, Bailey, Gabrielle, and Delaney Roy and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Jeffrey Roy and his sister, Ellen (Roy) Duncan.

Calling hours will held on Wednesday, January 24, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at St. Anthony Church, Bristol at 10:00 A.M. Burial with military honors will be in the spring in Edgewood Cemetery in Wolcott.
